Candela C-POD
A new frontier
The Candela C-POD is the most efficient and long-lasting boat motor ever made. Two ultra-compact yet strong permanent magnet motors under the water provide unrivaled range and efficiency. Enough thrust to make our boats fly at a speed of 30 knots, in absolute silence.
Electric direct-drive means no noise from gears, no oil changes and no maintenance. The patent-pending Candela C-POD will last a lifetime, without needing service.

Innovation
Established Truths
In 2014, a task group was assembled containing some of the leading experts within structural composite engineering, fighter jet flight control electronics, America’s Cup hydrodynamics, dynamic modeling and drone control systems. The venture was to find ways to make electric boats that would offer the elusive combination of both range and speed. Solving this crux would radically change the boundaries of electric boats.
After 10,000+ hours of simulations, design iterations and sea trials, a solution was found which is robust, fast and extremely efficient.
At the end of 2016, a full-scale prototype was launched, fulfilling the target of more than 50 nautical miles per charge at a speed of 22 knots.

behind the success
Questions?
Here’s the top five.
What is the range at high speed?
Real-world and validated range is 50 nautical miles at 22 knots. This means you can cruise for more than two hours without noise, emissions, or wake.
What motor and battery do you use?
Candela C-7:
Battery: 40 kWh lithium ion NMC battery pack (from BMWi3).
Motor: 70 kW for take off, 16 kW in 23 knots, 37 kW full speed.
What is the cost of driving a Candela Seven?
The C-7 is 95 percent cheaper to drive than a gas-powered boat! A full charge costs 5-7 €. A comparable fossil fuel bowrider would use fuel for 200 €.
